Is Microsoft killing UWP?
We will replace UWP with WinUI components in our v22. 1 release. UWP controls and demos will be removed from all distributions/installations. We will continue to provide support and minor updates to our UWP controls until December 2022.

UWP – which one to use? From our perspective the answer is none of them – well at least not directly. Choosing between WinForms, WPF, and basing something on UWP can all be very confusing. The current trend is that UWP's internal components (WinUI/MSIX) are being expanded to support non-UWP scenarios, so UWP should remain active in the coming years, and we can see how far it goes.
What is UWP used for?
UWP is one choice for creating apps that run on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices, and can be combined with other platforms. UWP apps can make use of Win32 APIs and . NET classes (see API Sets for UWP apps, Dlls for UWP apps, and . NET for UWP apps).
